CAF Interclubs: APR and Arta Solar 7 go through

On Thursday afternoon at the Pelé Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda's APR beat Somalia's Gaadiidka 2-0 in the second leg of their Champions League 1st qualifying round tie. French coach Thierry Froger's players, who had been held to a 1-1 draw in Kigali on August 19 due to the security situation, waited until the second half to make the difference. Cameroon's Apam Bémol opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, and Rwandan international Gilbert Mugisha put his side ahead for good in the 88th. The Rwandans will face Pyramids FC of Egypt in the 2nd round (September 15-17 and September 29-October 1).

In the African Football Confederation Cup, Djibouti's Arta/Solar 7 easily qualified at Chamazi Stadium in Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) against Somalia's Horseed (3-0), whom they had beaten by the same scoreline in the first leg (August 19) at the same venue. The three goals were scored in the first half by Gabriel Dadzie (1st, 20th) and Houmed Ali (29th). The Djibouti team, now coached by Algerian Bouziane Benaraïbi, will face Egyptian side Zamalek in the 2nd round.
