FIFA Women's World Cup: Ajara speaks of poor officiating in Cameroon's defeat

Beaten by Portugal (2-1) this Wednesday at Hamilton Stadium in New Zealand, the women's team of Cameroon will not play the World Cup come July 2023. A confrontation that was the object of several outstanding refereeing decisions with notably a goal denied to the Cameroonians, and at least two red cards that should have been given to the Portuguese.

The decisions of referee Casey Rebelt provoked the ire of Nchout Njoya Ajara. "When we came to play, we knew that the referee was going to be against us but we will not dwell on it, it's soccer," said the Cameroonian striker at the end of the game. The Inter Milan player had equalized for Cameroon in the 89th minute. But Portugal benefited from a penalty after Estelle Johnson handled the ball.
