France Football has announced the date of the Ballon d'Or 2023 award ceremony. The event will take place on 30 October at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. The successors to Karim Benzema and Alexia Putellas will be announced.
The names of the 30 nominees for the men's Ballon d'Or and the 20 nominees for the women's Ballon d'Or will be announced on 6 September. Having previously rewarded players for their performances over a calendar year, the trophy is now aligned with the sporting season calendar.
The award criteria have also been revised. Individual performances" and the "decisive and impressive character of the contenders" will be the number one criteria, ahead of "the collective aspect and trophies won" and "the player's class and sense of fair play".
