Football - Cameroon: Conceiçao wins case against Fécafoot

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled on the dispute between Antonio Conceiçao and the Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot). Fired from his position as Indomitable Lions coach before the end of his contract in February 2022, the Portuguese won his case before the highest jurisdictional organisation in sport. Fécafoot, headed by Samuel Eto'o, was found guilty of "abusive breach of contract".

The Cameroonian football authority was ordered to pay 1.6 million euros in compensation to its former coach. This represents a little over a billion CFA francs. This verdict confirms the first decision of the FIFA Players' Status Committee. The latter had already given victory to the Portuguese in July 2022. The Cameroonian side believes that "the relevant arguments developed at CAS do not seem to have been taken into account (Non-respect of contractual clauses etc. ...).

Thus, Fécafoot "takes note of this decision and reserves the right to appeal to the Swiss Federal Court", says the secretary general of the Cameroonian body.
