Since Gabon's elimination from the next AFCON 2023, Patrice Neveu is still unsure whether he will still be the boss of the Panthères. There's been a lot of talk about his dismissal, and some foolhardy people have even confirmed the news on social networks. But for the moment, nothing has been confirmed by the Football Federation. In fact, his president has taken to the podium to dispel the rumors.
"We communicate through official channels and not on social networks. When we want to communicate, especially in cases concerning the dismissal of a national coach, we do so in due form - and publicly. As it happens, we haven't dealt with the Neveu case. We're going to do so in the next few days, and we'll make our decision public," declared Pierre-Alain Mounguengui.
Fegafoot's big boss then hammered on. "We can't make hasty decisions. Patrice Neveu has a contract with Gabon that runs until 2025. So we'll have to look at all these parameters before making a decision. These are all questions we'll have to look at before making a decision," continued the president.
Neveu arrived at the head of the Gabonese national team in 2019, and has managed 29 official matches, with a record of 12 wins, six draws and ten defeats. Under his watch, the Panthères have scored 31 goals and conceded 27.
