The Namibian Football Association's normalisation committee announced on Saturday 21 October that it would hand over power to a new association on 17 November. Since 2019, FIFA had decided to place football under the supervision of a Normalisation Committee. The committee was headed by President Hilda Basson-Namundjebo. Namibian football was going through an unprecedented crisis following the dismissal of former president Frans Mbidi and his general secretary Barry Rukoro.
The mandate of the current team led by Hilda Basson-Namundjebo was due to expire on 30 April.
