On Saturday, October 14, Youcef Atal posted a photo of himself on his Instagram account with a scarf bearing the words "Palestine will be free", as well as a video of a preacher claiming that there would be "a black day for the Jews". Some, like the mayor of Nice, accused the Nice player of being anti-Semitic. He responded on Sunday October 15 via his social networks.
"I am aware that my publication shocked several people, which was not my intention, and I apologize. I would like to clarify my point of view without any ambiguity: I condemn all forms of violence, anywhere in the world, and I support all victims. I will never support a message of hatred. Peace is an ideal in which I firmly believe", wrote Youcef Atal.
