Nigeria, used to playing in the AFCON and always ranked among the favorites, hasn't won a trophy since 2013. But for the 2023 EDITION in Côte d'Ivoire, Cardiff City international defender Jamilu Collins, who was back in the squad after a long injury, believes Nigeria can go all the way.
"I firmly believe we can win the trophy in Côte d'Ivoire. We got off to a good start last time in Cameroon, but unfortunately we couldn't go far," he declared."Next year in Côte d'Ivoire, we want things to improve. We'll be aiming for the trophy, and I firmly believe we can win it. It won't be an easy task, but we'll work hard to achieve our goal," he concluded.
Nigeria made a name for themselves in the qualifiers, finishing top of the scoring charts with 22 goals in 6 matches. With one of Africa's most potent attacking armadas, the Super Eagles are in with a shout of reaching the final. That's if they can get their defensive woes sorted out before the competition.
