Simon Ngapandouetnbu needed to find a new home this summer. Marseille wanted to sign their young Cameroonian goalkeeper on loan. In the end, however, they retained him. The 20-year-old will once again be the 3rd goalkeeper this season. President Pablo Longoria spoke about this on Monday September 04 at a press conference.
"There are questions about Simon Ngapandouetnbu's situation (3rd goalkeeper). It's never a good solution to loan out a player at the end of his contract. I think he made a lot of progress last season and it's good that he's finding continuity with the reserve team. A loan doesn't guarantee you anything, because everyone is very conservative. We've analyzed his situation closely with the goalkeeping staff and we think he'll continue to progress this season.
