It's well known that Cédric Doumbé is one of the kings of trash-talking in combat sports. The Douala native constantly attacks his opponents on social networks. For the moment, this suits him, as he's undefeated in MMA. Francis Ngannou, who has reigned at UFC weight, reckons it's not a bad strategy. "Cedric Doumbé has a lot of psychological ascendancy over his opponents. For the most part, those who are going to fight him, they're going to lose the fight before the day of the fight," asserts Ngannou in an interview with DAZN.
The new boxer goes on to praise his compatriot's fighting qualities. "Cédric Doumbé's style is very powerful, very explosive for a guy with a striking that's not very comparable. Some people will rely on wrestling techniques. But I'm convinced that Cédric Doumbé is working on his wrestling because he's very clever at identifying his flaws. The problem is that even if you're the best wrestler in the world, the fight's going to start standing up, and you need to be able to break that distance to fight. And that's where he gains yet another advantage, in addition to the psychological aspect," analyses Ngannou.
Cédric Doumbé will be back in the cage on March 7. He faces the formidable Baki.
