Ghana have suffered a major blow. The Black Stars will have to do without Joseph Aidoo at the 2023 African Cup of Nations. The Celta Vigo defender was injured in the friendly against Mexico, suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon. His season is over.
"RC Celta's head of medical services, Juan José García Cota, this morning operated on central defender Joseph Aidoo, who suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during a match with his national team last Saturday," the Spanish club said in a statement. "The operation, which was carried out without complications and took place early in the morning at the Fremap hospital in Vigo, involved reconstruction of the tendon with reinforced suture and the application of growth factors. The defender will be out of action for at least 6 to 7 months. The club reiterates its message of encouragement and support for Aidoo, wishing him a full recovery."
