Lebo Mothiba has suffered a major setback. The South African striker will not be playing in the AFCON 2023. The Strasbourg player has suffered a fractured kneecap in his left knee. The Alsatian club has announced that Mothiba, "successfully operated on this Monday morning", will be "absent for several months". Bafana Bafana has also suffered serious injuries in the past, keeping him out of action for months at a time. This season, he took part in 15 Ligue 1 matches, scoring 3 goals.
Lebo Mothiba returned to the South African national team last September, after a 4-year absence due to repeated injuries.
