NBA: 40,000 career points for Lebron James

In the eyes of some, he'll never equal Michael Jordan, considered the greatest of all time. But Lebron James continues to make basketball history. Every year, the kid from Akron signs a new chapter in his legend that will remain indelible forever. Last night, at the age of 39, he became the first player to reach the mythical 40,000-point mark in the NBA.

He needed 9 points to do it. He put in 26, his team's best mark. But his Lakers were up against defending champions Denver. And in this Colorado franchise is a Serbian basketball player who is also sure to go down in the history of the orange ball. His name is Nikola Jokic. The two-time MVP racked up 35 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists to help the Nuggets spoil Lebron James' record-breaking night. They won 124-114.
