Joel Embiid and Lebron James are going to team up. Not on the NBA floor, although that sounds like a dream, but in the media. The Cameroonian pivot is to launch his own media company, Miniature Geant. And it will be in partnership with King James and his SpringHill Company.
Embiid's aim is to inspire the younger generation in Cameroon. In fact, he will be making a documentary tracing his journey from the streets of Yaoundé to the NBA. "I arrived in the United States at the age of 16, just three months after picking up a basketball for the first time," said the 2023 MVP in a statement. "I could never have gotten to where I am today without the courage and hard work that fans see every day on the court. I've often said that my life is like a film, and now I'm lucky enough to be able to create scenarios that I know will resonate with children around the world and encourage them to dream big. I couldn't think of a better partner than The SpringHill Company, and I can't wait for our stories to be broadcast.
Joel Embiid and his company also have other projects. These include the film adaptation of Sebastian Abbot's novel, The Away Game: The Epic Search for Soccer's Next Superstars. It tells the story of a group of 13-year-old boys recruited from local African football clubs to join a top-level football academy.
