Olympic Games 2024 (Q): Côte d'Ivoire withdraws from the women's soccer tournament

Côte d'Ivoire's women's soccer team forfeits the remainder of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers in Paris. "Between the women's AFCON and the Olympic Games qualifiers, we had favored the women's AFCON, unfortunately, in this competition, we had been quickly eliminated. For the Olympic Games, we won't be taking part in the next round," Christine Aka Ezoua, head of the women's soccer commission at the Fédération Ivoirienne de Football (FIF), told AFP on Tuesday. The reasons for this decision have not yet been officially given, but according to a member of the FIF communications department, it relates to "cash flow problems".
