On the face of it, the double-header between Ethiopia and Nigeria in the 2nd qualifying round of the women's soccer tournament for the 2024 Olympic Games would appear to be a lopsided affair. And yet, at the end of the first round, played on Wednesday October 25 in Addis Ababa, the two teams were level on points. The Nigerians could do no better than a 1-1 draw. In fact, it was the Ethiopians who scored first thanks to Amare (6th). Atletico Madrid's Ajibalde equalised for Nigeria in the second half (52nd). The second match is scheduled for Tuesday October 31 in Abeokua.
