Paris 2024 Olympics: Kiptum says he's ready to take on Kipchoge

New marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum says he's ready to take on Eliud Kipchoge in Paris. That's if he's selected to represent Kenya at the 2024 Olympics. "I'm looking forward to competing with Eliud, if I'm selected to represent Kenya at the next Olympics.I'm ready to run with him," said Kiptum, speaking on his return to Nairobi on Tuesday, October 10. This after winning the Chicago Marathon with the new marathon world record of 2h35s at the expense of another Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge.

The hero received 5 million shillings (32,000 euros) from the government through the Ministry of Sports, whose Cabinet Secretary, Ababu Namwamba, reiterated his support for the athletes. "We want our athletes to be proud to wear Kenya's colors, we want them to be proud to compete for Kenya. Let them be proud of these four colors: black, red, green and white. We want you to be proud of our national anthem. So don't even think of crossing the border to compete for another country," said Ababu.
