Pierre Aubame tells how OM convinced his son Aubameyang

After a prodigious career in Germany, England and Spain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back in France, where he really came into his own with AS Saint-Etienne. The Gabon captain has signed a three-year contract with OM from Chelsea. A transfer that surprised many. His father, Pierre Aubame, also a former striker, tells us how his son was approached by Marseille.

"It was already in the pipeline before Pablo (Longoria, editor's note) came to see me with Javier. It started to grow when I had to go back to hospital on July 6 for an operation. Pablo explained the project to me, and showed me in no uncertain terms that if my 'lascar' came to them, things would work out well with a coach (Marcelino, editor's note) who wanted him all the way. Did I call my son? Immediately. We call each other on video and our hello is his big smile. He bursts out laughing: "Are you happy or not? Do you want me to do it with an accent? He replied: 'And how? Tell me? But the old man, you're joking, can you imagine, it could be something crazy! Then I had to sort out a few details with Chelsea," the father tells L'Equipe newspaper.
