Saïd Benrahma's transfer to Lyon hit the headlines on Thursday February 01, the closing date of the winter mercato. Although the deal had fallen through due to late submission of documents, Lyon finally obtained FIFA's approval for the Algerian's signature. The Algerian is on loan from West Ham until the end of the season for €5m. There is also an option to buy the player for almost €15 million.
"Having obtained all the documents required to validate the operation, Olympique Lyonnais confirms the arrival on loan of 28-year-old Algerian international striker Saïd Benrahama from West Ham until June 30, 2024. The £5.1m (approx. €6m) loan deal comes with a £12.3m (approx. €14.4m) purchase option and a 10% profit-share in the event of an eventual transfer," says Lyon.
