South Africa: Police raid FA headquarters

The headquarters of the South African Football Association (SAFA) was raided on Saturday March 16. The Serious Commercial Crime Unit (Hawks) raided the premises in a bid to find out more about the mishaps involving SAFA. CAF did not wait long to react.

"Although the allegations made by the Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit are serious, in accordance with international legal principles and jurisprudence, SAFA and its President are presumed innocent until an appropriate judicial body concludes otherwise", says a statement from the continental body.

CAF is therefore asking SAFA to provide a report indicating that it and its president have at no time and under no circumstances violated or infringed the statutes and regulations of CAF and FIFA.
