Assistant Technical Director of the Fédération Ivoirienne de Football (FIF) Alain Gouaméné has been appointed goalkeeping coach of the Elephants informs a press release issued on Monday, October 9, 2023. The note signed by FIF executive director Armand Gohourou reads: "The President of the Fédération Ivoirienne de Football, Mr. Yacine Idriss Diallo and the executive committee inform (...) the sporting public as well as all soccer stakeholders that following an agreement between the parties, the collaboration with Mr. Grange Fabrice Alphonse, Selectionneur-Entraîneur-Assistant, in charge of the goalkeepers of the national A team, has been terminated on Friday 06 October 2023".
This appointment, the document continues, "results from the request for amicable termination of the collaboration contract sent" by Armand Gohourou to FIF President Idriss Diallo.
Former Ivorian international Alain Gouaméné, who now occupies the post, will not be operating in unfamiliar territory, having held the role between 2005 and 2007.
