The Sydney Marathon eluded the African continent. It was American Betsy Saina who came in first. Her time was 2h26mn47s. Ethiopia's Rahma Tusa Sosa finished second in the 42 km race. She completed the race in 2h26mn52s. 3rd place also went to an African. Kenyan Gladys Chesir Kipatagelai (30) came in with a time of 2h28mn41s.
