Manchester United are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper and have set their sights on André Onana. United have tabled a 2nd bid of €45 million to secure the services of the Cameroonian goalkeeper and are working hard to complete the transfer. A former Red Devils player, Rio Ferdinand is eager to see Onana at Old Trafford. A player whose qualities he has not failed to praise.
"He's an excellent goalkeeper. Above all, he's a modern keeper thanks to his footwork. You see teams press him and he doesn't even panic. He receives the ball, puts on the pressure and says to the opposition 'Come on, come to me'. When the opponent comes to him, he knows there's a free player elsewhere and he normally finds him. (...) There will be mistakes because when you play risky, you make mistakes, that happens. But it's about staying true to your convictions, finding the right balance and staying confident during those periods," the Manchester legend told YouTube channel FIVE.
In the meantime, the Cameroonian goalkeeper is expected back in Milan this Thursday for the start of the new season.
Simone Inzaghi has confirmed that Andre Onana has been called up for Inter Milan’s pre-season training — but conceded that “the transfer window is unpredictable & all Italian clubs have to sell before they can buy”.
