Transfer Updates - Liverpool: Joel Matip's big announcement about his future

Having arrived at Liverpool 7 years ago (July 2016), Joël Matip has had both good and bad times with the Reds. The Cameroonian defender has not been spared from injury and has had to miss some of the Mersey club's games. Although the Indomitable Lion has often been rumoured to be on his way out, he doesn't seem ready to leave the English club. In an interview with the club, he showed his determination to have a great season and help his team achieve their objectives.

"I've been here a long time and I've really enjoyed it. When I arrived, I didn't really think about how long I'd be here. I just thought about the time I had and concentrated on soccer. I've had some good times here and others where I've been unlucky with injuries, but I've always tried to come back and give my best. That's what I want to do again this season,"
confided the Cameroonian. The 32 year old is contracted to Liverpool right up till 2024.
