U23 AFCON: Cameroon rejected by CAS as Gabon qualifies

Cameroon will not win its case against Gabon over qualification for the U23 AFCON. The Cameroon Football Federation had referred the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on 12 June. Fécafoot was protesting against the decision of CAF's appeal panel, which confirmed the Panthers' qualification.

The legal body based in Lausanne, Switzerland, simply rejected Cameroon's request in an order handed down on 20 June in Lausanne. This means that Gabon have qualified for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations. The competition will be held in Morocco from 24 June to 8 July.

The case between Gabon and Cameroon dates back to last February during the qualifiers. The identity of the Gabonese player Floris Djave was called into question by the Cameroonians.
