A big sensation on Saturday October 21 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Kamaru Usman lost to the new Emirati Khamzat Chimaev, of Chechen origin. Chimaev won by a majority decision of the judges (29-27, 29-27, 28-28) in front of an enthusiastic Emirati crowd.
Kamaru Usman replaced the withdrawn Paulo Costa at the last minute. This setback was the Nigerian's third in a row.
