The year 2023 ends on a high note for Faith Kipyegon. The Kenyan was voted the world's best athlete in 2023, in the track events category. She was honored on Monday December 11 at the World Athletics Awards 2023 in Monaco.Kipyegon was world champion in the 1500 m in 2023. She also broke three world records this year: the 1,500 m on June 2, 2023 at the Golden Gala meeting in Florence, in 3 min 49 s 11, the 5,000 m on June 9, 2023 at the Paris Meeting in 14 min 5 s 20, and finally the mile on July 22, 2023 at the Herculis Meeting in Monaco in 4 min 7 s 64. In the women's off-stage category, Ethiopian Tigist Assefa is number 1.  Kenyan marathoner Kelvin Kiptum, who recently broke the world marathon record, is the winner in the Men's Off-Stadia category.
