Equatorial Guinea played host to Namibia on Wednesday November 15 in their first match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers at the Malabo stadium. Victory was hard to come by. It wasn't until the 67th minute that captain Emilio Nsue delivered his country's only goal but how difficult it was.
The fault? According to Nzalang Nacional's all-time top scorer, the condition of the pitch was unacceptable."Did you see what the stadium looked like? You can't play in those conditions. We want the pitch to be good. We had to travel on Monday (November 13) with 4 flights, we only trained once. Did you see the rhythm? We had no energy. We're just asking for good organization," said Nsue.
"The players, with everything that happened on the pitch, came out motivated. What we want is to play soccer and nothing more. Now we need them to give us good conditions," added his national coach Micha.
