South Africa has withdrawn its bid to host the 2027 Women's World Cup. The South African Football Association announced this on Friday November 24 in a statement published on its official website. However, the CEO of the South African Football Association (SAFA) announced that her country is a candidate to host the 2031 event. This adds Lydia Monyepao, "so that we give it our best shot, rather than making a hasty presentation."
FIFA now has three options for hosting the 2027 World Cup: the joint Belgium-Germany-Netherlands bid, Brazil or the Mexico-United States duo. The host country was due to be announced on May 17, 2024.
