The Dark Continent will have two representatives in the 50m butterfly final at the World Swimming Championships. Egypt's Farida Osman and South Africa's Erin Gallagher will be vying for medals this Saturday, February 17.Osman won bronze medals at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships. She was third in the semi-finals with a time of 25s80, while Gallagher was 8th in 25s86.
Chad Le Clos qualified for the 100m butterfly final. The South African legend was 6th in the semi-finals, clocking 51s70.
To date, Africa has only won two medals in these events. Egypt's Maha Eissa (diving) and South Africa's Pieter Coetze both won bronze medals. Tunisia's Ahmed Hafnaoui, on the other hand, failed to qualify for the 400m and 800m freestyle finals.
