C'est une compétition créée depuis 2008 par la Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) qui a la particularité d'être exclusivement réservée aux joueurs évoluant dans un club africain.
Cette compétition a lieu tous les 2 ans alternativement avec la CAN.
Elle aura lieu au Cameroun du 16 janvier au 7 février 2021 dans les 4 stades suivants :

En 2022 ce sera l'Algérie qui qui sera le pays hôte de cette 7e édition.
En juillet 2016, Total a annoncé avoir passé un accord de sponsoring avec la Confédération Africaine de Football et devient le sponsor titre des compétitions organisées par la CAF. Cet accord court sur 8 ans et concerne les principales compétitions organisées, dont la Coupe d’Afrique des Nations 2022 et 2023, qui est désormais baptisée Championnat d’Afrique des Nations Total.

It is a competition created since 2008 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) which has the particularity of being exclusively reserved for players playing in an African club.
This competition takes place every 2 years alternately with the CAN.
It will take place in Cameroon from January 16 to February 7, 2021 in the 4 following stadiums:
Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde,
the stadium of the Japoma complex
the Bepanda sports stadium in Douala
the omnisports stadium in Limbé.

In July 2016, Total announced that it has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Confederation of African Football and becomes the title sponsor of the competitions organised by the CAF. This agreement runs for 8 years and concerns the main competitions organised, including the African Cup of Nations 2022 and 2023, which is now called the Total African Nations Championship.
