2022/2023 Ghana Women’s Premier League Match Day Three Wrap: Hasaacas Ladies unbeaten run continues as Ridge City grabs a point at home in a dramatic comeback

The 2022/2023 Ghana’s Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League match day three has come to an end across all zones.

The Northern Zone kick started on Friday afternoon at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium as Tamale based Pearl Pia Ladies defeated Fabulous Ladies FC by 3:2.

Iddi Sharifa broke the deadlock of the game in the 13th minute to put the home side ahead.

Forward Frederica Torkudzor quickly doubled the lead 2minutes later to ensure Pearl Pia Ladies ends the first half on a good note.

Abubakari Afisatu pulled one back for the visitors on the hour mark with a fabulous finish. Abdul Rahman Barikisu extended the lead for Pearl Pia  to two with an 81st minute strike.

Fabulous Ladies  FC youngster, Abubakari Afisatu  got her second for the day in the 83rd minute but wasn't enough as the record their 3rd defeat on a row, leaving them at the bottom of the table.

On Saturday afternoon, Ash-Town Ladies FC silenced newly promoted side, Candy Soccer Academy Ladies to record their second consecutive home victory with a sensational comeback at the Bantama Kokoase astro turf.

Perpetual Tuah broke the deadlock in the 21st minute for the visitors. However Ashtown Ladies FC made sure they get things leveled before the break as Agnes Owusu drew parity from a corner kick.

Josephine Addowaa doubled the home side lead in the 56th minute before Blessing Asubia made it 3-1 on the 59th minute.

Josephine Addowaa netted her second of the game in the ending minutes of the game to propel her side to a 4-1 victory.

In the Southern Zone, giant’s Hasaacas Ladies FC are off to a blistering start as the only side to have a hundred per cent record in the season so far.

Hasaacas Ladies thumped Police Ladies by 4-0 at the Gyandu Park in Sekondi with goals from Doreen Copson, Veronica Kumah-Baah, Doris Boaduwaa and Fidous Yakubu.

Doris Boaduwaa set up Doreen Copson in the 12th minute to break the deadlocks of the game with a beautiful finish.

Youngster Veronica Kumah-Baah was at the right place at the right time to finish off a rebound after Doris Boaduwaa’s strike had been denied by the goalkeeper.

Being on fire on a sunny afternoon, Doris Boaduwaa finally  had a goal of her own by lobbing a well timed effort over the head of the goalkeeper to make the scoreline 3-0 before the first half break.

Newly signed Firdous Yakubu stepped up to slot in from the spot in the 71st minute when Doris Boaduwaa was brought down in the penalty box.

The victory means Hasaacas Ladies have now gone a run of 21 games without defeat in the Southern Zone Women’s Premier League.

On Sunday, Thunder Queens visited debutants Ridge City FC at the Madina astro turf where  they held a 3-3 draw.

Ridge City FC came down from a 3-1 scoreline to grab a point after a busy afternoon.

Gifty Osei, Juliet Abankwa and Gloria Fosua had the goals for Thunder Queens whiles  Cecilia Agyiri got a brace with Loretta Afful adding the most important third goal for Ridge City Women FC.

Ridge City are yet to win a game in three matches having amassed just two points from a possible nine.
