The new coach of Vipers SC, Alex Isabirye has said they are going to prove a point when they take on Guinea’s Horoya Athletic Club in a TotalEnergies CAF Champions League group C tie on Friday.
Horoya AC who are placed third in Group C with 4 points will host the Uganda Premier League reigning champions Vipers SC in a match to be played in the Malian capital, Bamako.
But although the two teams are out of contention for a place in the quarter final stage, Vipers SC coach Alex Isabirye has made it clear that they want to finish on a high. “I have been with this team for slightly over a week and guided them to a draw against table group leaders Raja Casablanca. Now we must go and look for a win,” explained Isabirye.
The coach made it clear that he now understands his players well having been with them for some more time now. “Yes some players will not travel because they are nursing injuries, but we have others who are ready to help us get a good result,” added Isabirye.
Vipers SC started the group stage campaign with a 5-0 defeat away to Morocco’s Raja Casablanca, and drew 1-1 when they hosted Horoya AC. They later suffered two 1-0 defeats to Simba SC (Tanzania) and held Raja Casablanca to a 1-1 draw.
The Vipers SC team traveled this morning aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight will however miss the services of skipper Milton Karisa, Yunus Sentamu, Marvin Joseph Youngman and Murushid Juuko who are still out nursing an injury.
