A feat that is hard to come by in African club football. Not many teams on the continent can boast of completing a double on Al Ahly especially in the CAF Champions League, a competition they have mastered so well over the years. South African side Mamelodi Sundowns have proven to be a bitter pill for the defending Champions League holders, beating them both on hom and away soil this season.
Mamelodi Sundowns, the strong leaders of group A, hosted Al Ahly in one of the clashes of the 4th day of the CAF Champions League on Saturday night. The South Africans won the clash 1-0
Sundowns were quick to find the back of the net. Peter Shalulile scored the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute when the on rushing striker headed home from a corner cross.. It was his second goal in the competition. Despite having more possession (63%), Al Ahly were never able to turn the game around. Coach Pitso Mosimane just made a bad trip home. The former Sundowns coach was once againt this season beaten by boys he use to dish out intructions to on a bench he mastered.

The win consolidates Mamelodi Sundowns' position at the top of the table. With 10 points, they now need just one more to qualify. Al Ahly, on the other hand, will have to fight hard. The Egyptians are 2nd with 4 points. But they have the same number of points as the other two members of the group, namely Al Merreikh and Al Hilal. The latter won the Sudanese battle on Friday 1-0.
