Match day 13 of the MTN Elite One championship rolled through the weekend and at the start of the week (Monday) with intriguing, eye catching results for PWD and Les Astres FC in groups A and B respectively.
The match day started with an advanced fixture that saw Eding Sports win one-nil over Cotonsport courtesy a goal from Harrison Djonkep.
Newcomer Heka Ebongue stroke PWD to a 1-0 victory against Colombe of Dja at the Omnisport annex stadium, which momentarily lifted the Abakwa Boys out of the red zone in group A.
PWD's win against Colombe directly drew Avion Academy and Renaissance to the bottom half especially with costly defeats to Canon and Stade Renard.
Ngon Marius scored at the 11th minute for Canon while Cameroon international Fabrice Ngah scored at the 57th minute to gift Kpakum the victory.
UMS stayed afloat group B despite strides by Canon towards the top. The Loum outfit separated with a 1-1 parity against Aigle Royal of the Menoua.
Renaissance has kept sinking down the sand with another defeat suffered against Stade Renard. Amih Renzoh's lone strike in the closing stages of the game moved Renard up to 7th in group A with 16 points.
In group B, YOSA separated in a goalless tie against Union in Bandjoun.
2023 Cameroon Super Cup winners Bamboutos FC leapfrogged YAFOOT 1-0 while Gazelle had their work cut out in Garoua as they trailed by one through a Julian Kamta 29th minute penalty, which led Les Astres to successive wins.
In a 5-goal thriller in the start of the week's fixtures pitting Apejes against Fauve Azur, saw the latter defeat Apejes 3-2.
Frank Bekem and Alex Nandje scored early for Fovu in the other fixture on Monday at the 4th and 13th minute, and Yannick Noah's goal for home side, Dragon, was only a consolation at the 51st minute.
Fovu are up to second in group B with 21 points, two adrift Bamboutos. Dragon are placed rock bottom (11th).
