The Ghana Football Association has officially launched the Ghana Football School project.
In a ceremony held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the GFA headquarters in Accra, the football association outdoor their newest capacity building wing which will benefit individuals involved in all aspects of the game.
Speaking at the launch, the president of the FA, Mr Kurt E.S Okraku said that the new policy is one that will help many to get involved in the football ecosystem especially the old players.
“The Ghana Football School will offer everybody the chance to get the right levels of skillset. And in speaking about this, this is the best opportunity and chance we can create for our ex-footballers who have a lot to offer than they are currently offering,” he said.
In quest to promote the game across the country, the Kurt Okraku-led administration is partnering some of Ghana's tertiary institution such as ( University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), the China Europe Business School and other institutions) to carry out the project.
The partnership aims at providing education and training opportunities for players, coaches, administrators, and other professionals within the football space across the nation.
Again, the School will also see to build the capacity of stakeholders in Ghana’s football community by recognizing and nurturing talents all over.
“The Ghana Football School will be working with all the institutions to see how best we can support our legends to get themselves at the right levels that they so desire to have a career pathway beyond what they had on the football pitch,” he added.
Present at the ceremony was the President of the Ghana football association, Kurt E.S Okraku, Black Stars legend, Opoku Nti, General Secretary of the FA Prosper Harrison Addo(Esq), Technical director of the GFA Bernhard Lippert, Director of coaching College Professor Kwame Minta, some Executive council members as well as reps from the selected tertiary institutions.
The new development adds up to the numerous policies of the current football administration, having launched the GFA Foundation which supports ex-players and also the catch them young refereeing policy in the past.
