Ghana Premier League match day 31 wrap: Medeama beat Hearts to go top, Accra Lions frustrates Aduana as Kotoko returns to winning ways

The race for the 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League title has suddenly taken a dramatic turn as Medeama sporting club out of nowhere have found themselves up the table with a point above Aduana Stars.

Accra Hearts of Oak succumbed to their heaviest defeat of the season as they were molested at home by the Yellow and mauve club.

Elsewhere in Bechem, the Hunters pile more misery on Legon Cities who are struggling with relegation this season.

Accra Lions 3-0 Aduana Stars

Accra Lions produced a magical performance to record a huge victory over the league leaders at the Accra sports stadium on Saturday night.

Baba Apiiga's first half strike for Lions kept them yearning for more as topped up with another in the 76th minute when Evans Botchway shuttered the hopes of Aduana with the second goal for the home-side.

'Golden boy' Seidu Basit added his name to the scoresheet with a beautiful finish with just 8minutes to end duration as Accra Lions cruised beautifully over the Ogyaa boys.

Accra Hearts of Oak 1-5 Medeama SC

Medeama SC handed Accra Hearts of Oak their biggest defeat of the season at the Accra sports stadium on Sunday.

The visitors took an early lead in the 17th minute when Derrick Fordjour sent a low drive, beating goalkeeper Richmond Ayi easily.

Accra Hearts of Oak drew level from the spot through Ibrahim Salifu when Konadu Yiadom was brought down in the box.

The visitors went ahead again and this time it was through former Hearts of Oak defender, Vincent Atingah who scored from the spot to register his 10th league goal of the season.

Jonathan Sowah had his name on the scoresheet before the end of the first half, connecting to a beautiful cross from Derrick Fordjour.

Two more goals in the second half from Jonathan Sowah and Kwesi Donsu sealed the victory for the Yellow  and mauve club as they move up the league table with a point above Aduana Stars.

Kotoku Royals - Asante Kotoko

Asante Kotoko pushed Kotoku Royals down the trenches more with a 3-1 victory at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

A quick brace from Cameroonian export, George Mfuege in the 10th and 18th minute respectively to set the porcupine warriors on a good path.

Kotoku Royals however pulled one back through 'hitman' Richard Dzikoe before the break.

Asante Kotoko added salt to injury with a 51st minute strike from youngster Rocky Dwamena to seal the victory for the porcupine warriors.
