The final round of matches for the 2022/2023 Ghana Women’s Premier League before the world Cup break has ended across all league centers.
In the Southern Zone, Hasaacas Ladies have failed to grab a win in two games on a roll whiles Police Ladies halts Berry Ladies in Accra.
Elsewhere in the Northern zone, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Peal Pia Ladies and Prisons Ladies FC picked important victories with huge margins.
NORTHERN ZONE
Tamale Super Ladies 0-4 Ampem Darkoa Ladies
Tamale Super Ladies have failed to grab a point in two consecutive games since their 3-1 victory over Supreme Ladies on match day 5. The Tamale based club fell to a heavy 4-0 defeat to Ampem Darkoa Ladies at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium on Friday afternoon.
A brace each from Mavis Owusu and Ophelia Serwah Amponsah was enough for the Nanamma to record their sixth victory of the season.
Supreme Ladies 1-3 Pearl Pia Ladies
At the Bantama Astro Turf on Sunday afternoon, Pearl Pia Ladies lost 3-1 at home to Tamale based Pearl Pia Ladies. Georgina Ayisha Aoyem shot the visitors ahead in the 18th minute with a fine finish.
Five minutes into the second half, Pearl Pia Ladies doubled their lead with a 50th minute strike courtesy Francisca Torkudzor. The home side grabbed one back in the 68th minute through Diana Amoako but wasn't enough to save the day for Supreme Ladies as Iddi Sharifa broke hearts with an 86th minute strike.
Prisons Ladies FC 4-1 Candy Soccer Academy
It was all joy at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Saturday afternoon as Prisons Ladies FC picked their 4th victory of the season with a 4-1 win over Candy Soccer Academy. The party began as early as the 5th minute as Helen Obeng showed up to slot home the opener for Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
Salina Kurag doubled the lead for the home side in the 16th minute with Helen Obeng grabbing her second of the day four minutes later. Belinda Samed in the 30th minute pulled one back for the visitors with the hope of bouncing back to equalize in the second half. Helen Obeng put the icing on the cake with a 51st strike to complete her hat trick of the day.
SOUTHERN ZONE
LadyStrikers 4-3 Ridge City Women FC
LadyStrikers emerged winners in their dramatic 4-3 victory over Ridge City Women FC at the Mankessim Astro Turf on Sunday afternoon. Hannah Soti broke the deadlock of the game in the 16th minute for the home side, but Ridge City FC responded quickly with the equalizer just a minute later through Esther Owusu.
Former Black Maidens midfielder Edem Atorvor retored the lead for LadyStrikers in the 21st minute with Deborah Annor adding the third for her side 5minutes later. Ridge City FC reduced the deficit to 1 through Loretta Afful's 27th minute strike but wasn't enough as the first half ended in favor of the home side.
Back from recess, defender Jennifer Nuamah levelled things for the visitors in the 53rd minute. Ridge City FC again left their backline opened as Edem Atorvor penetrated to grab her second of the day in the 65th minute which went on to be the winner.
Faith Ladies 1-1 Thunder Queens FC
Faith Ladies FC held Thunder Queens to a 1-1 draw at the McDan Astro Turf on Saturday afternoon. Goals from Issabella Lamptey of Thunder Queens and Jennifer Kankam ensured both sides leave with a point each.
