The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has set Tuesday August 16, 2022 as date for the Emergency General Assembly, SportNewsAfrica can report.
The Annual General Assembly (AGA) Congress failed to happen in late 2021 which was earlier billed for December 17 due to an exparte order from Federal High Court, Yenogoa stopping the football body's from holding the Congress.
After months of interventions, the Annual General Assembly (AGA) had been rumored to hold on August 13 but, in a notice sent to the Congressmen, the Federation settled for August 16 with Yenogoa, Bayelsa State as venue.
The letter confirming the new date was addressed to all delegates across 36 states including the FCT written on 8th August and signed on behalf of the General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi.
SportNewsAfrica further scooped that the notice included the same agenda for the AGA as that of the initial scheduled Congress slated for December 17, 2021.
As NFF president Amaju Pinnick led board expires on September 20, the AGA is expected to discuss the future of the current administration and launch the process to elect new leadership.
Pinnick, who is a former CAF first Vice President and currently a member of the FIFA Council, has enjoyed a record uninterrupted leadership of Nigeria for two terms since 2014 and is poised to bag a third term when his tenure expires.
Meanwhile, various stakeholders are clamouring for a revised 2010 NFF statues, including expansion of the elective Congress from 44 to 111 which is part of the many reasons some individuals had dragged the Pinnick led board to court.
However, the Federal Government also backs the proposed expansion through a letter on June 17, when they urged the NFF to 'do the right thing'.
