NWFL Premiership MD9 Wrap: Edo outshine Nasarawa, Bayelsa stun Rivers in PH

Edo Queens left it late to ground out a 3-2 win over Nasarawa Amazons in the Nigeria Women's Football League Premiership encounter.

Yetunde Fajobi struck at the death to hand Moses Aduku's side a victory in a five-goal thrilling second half in the top-of-the-table battle at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

After a drab goalless first half, Yemisi Samuel gave the hosts the lead in the 54th minute but new signing Odubanjo Dominance scored in her second consecutive match to level matters for the Solid Miners.

The home side, however recovered the lead through Suliat Abideen's brilliant finish in the 71st minute, but Nasarawa found another stunning response when they leveled through Titilayo Aweda two minutes from time.

With both teams looking destined to settle for a stalemate, Fajobi popped up inside the box to blast home the winner deep inside the stoppable time. The victory saw Edo Queens reclaim the summit of Group B with two-points lead over second place Nasarawa Amazons with 13 points.

In Uyo, Ibom Angels returned to winning ways following a 2-0 win over Adamawa Queens at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Training Pitch on Wednesday.

Second half strike from Udeme Uko and Adekemi Akintan stirred the Uyo based ladies to a winning ways return at the expense of their Yola based counterparts.

Elsewhere, Robo Queens enjoyed got the better of Abia Queens by winning two goals to nil in Lagos in Lagos as Folashade Ijamilusi and Taiwo Lawal scored the goals in the 55th and 84th minute.

Favor Ijeje's 65th minute strike earned Royal Queens a win over Osun Babes as Bayelsa Queens came from behind to defeat Rivers Angels at the University of Portharcourt Sports Complex.
