Qatar 2022: “Enough of the opinions, let’s support the Black Stars” – Ghana legend, Asamoah Gyan pleads

Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan

Former captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan has thrown his support for the ahead of the 2022 World Cup to be held in Qatar from 20th November to 18th December 2022.

Ghana will be making their fourth at the Mundial are in Group H alongside 2016 European champions Portugal, Asian giants South Korea and inaugural winners Uruguay. The team will open its campaign against Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.

Gyan, Africa’s all-time top scorer in the history of the World Cup with six goals pleads with Ghanaians to rally behind the team. Ghana’s coach, Otto Addo has faced huge backlash by a section of Ghanaians following big-name omissions from his final squad such as Joseph Paintsil, Jeffrey Schlupp, and Felix Afena-Gyan.

The Black Stars opened a training camp on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi and will play Switzerland in a warm-up friendly on Thursday, November 17 before heading to Qatar for the Mundial.

Ghana will face Portugal on November 24 before coming up against South Korea four days later and Uruguay on December 2 to close the group phase.
