South Africa: Zungu set to return to Sundowns?

Midfielder Bongani Zungu looks set ti make a return to Mamelodi Sundowns

Reports coming out of South Africa suggest midfielder Bongani Zungu is set to make a return to play his football in the country.

Zungu, who left Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016 to make a move to Europe, is currently a free agent after his contract with French Ligue 2 side Amiens came to an endSundowns are believed to be interested in re-signing the 29-year-old midfielder who has also been on the books of Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers under their former coach Steven Gerard.

Sundowns, who will be back in the CAF Champions League in the coming season, have made contact with Zungu and his representatives and a decision on his future will be made in the near future, as the transfer window closes at the end of August.

According to reports, Zungu has been holding out for a move in Europe, but it appears that there has not been a lot of interest in his services. This could lead to Sundowns signing him before the start of the new season on August 5.

Sundowns, meanwhile, have already announced the signings of goalkeeper Ronwen Williams and midfielder Sipho Mbule. Ethiopian international Abubeker Nassir has also arrived in South Africa and the club is expected to announce his signing before the start of the new season.

Nassir impressed the Sundowns coaches when he was on trial at the club in January.
