This is the time to write your names in the history books- GFA Vice President charges Black Meteors ahead of U23 AFCON

Black Meteors of Ghana

Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, Mark Addo has charged the Black Meteors to ink their names in the history books of Ghana football as they embark on the journey to the 2023 U23 TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Black Meteor after failing to qualify for the last Olympics games will be giving it another shot as they participate in this year's edition of the tournament with a hope of sealing a ticket to the 2024 Olympics Games in Paris, France.

Ahead of their departure from Accra on Monday morning, the team was visited by some delegations from the football association led by the Vice President Mark Addo.

Addressing the team before they depart to Egypt,  Mr Mark Addo said that the team has what it takes to achieve their targets.

"I want to congratulate this team for what you have accomplished so far. "If you want your names written in history this is the time. Always have the mentality that we are not going to Morocco to participate. You must go there and add your names to history."

Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, William Katey also topped up with a brief word of encouragement.

"You must go with the believe that you are the best in the tournament. On behalf of the minister and the people of Ghana we wish you well and we hope that on the final day we will all converge in Morocco to cheer you on to victory”, he stated.

"You are carrying the hearts for 30 million Ghanaians with you so this is the moment to crown your efforts".

Skipper of the side Daniel Afriyie Barnieh stood in and  thanked the delegates for their inspiring words.

"In this team we don't talk much. We do all our talking on the pitch and we are confident that we will make our selves and the nation proud", Barnieh said.

The Black Meteors team will be camping in Egypt where they will take on the U-23 of Egypt in a friendly game on June 15 and another friendly match against a yet to be named opponent before departing for Morocco for the main tournament which will commence on June 24 2023.
