Ghanaians have been left fuming over Black Meteors painful elimination from the 2023 U23 African Cup of nations ongoing in Morocco.
The Black Meteors who needed a victory to advance to the next phase of the competition and also keep their 2024 Olympic games hope alive, threw their 1-0 lead away as Guinea came from behind to snatch a point which eliminates the Ghanaian side.
Ibrahim Tanko's side took an early lead following an interplay between Emmanuel Yeboah and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
Emmanuel Yeboah fed on Fatawu Ishahaku's pass inside the box to put the Meteors ahead.
The Guinean side however showed resilience after the break and were rewarded with the equalizer courtesy of a 30-yard strike by Ibrahima Breze Fofana.
Guinea held on and ended the game with one all to snatch a point which took them through to the knockout round.
Speaking to the media after the disappointing performance, Coach Ibrahim Tanko revealed his displeasure with his players and how bad they've let Ghanaians down.
"We have disappointed Ghanaians and ourselves but we give thanks to God in every situation and like I said we will analyze and know what didn't go well."
With the entire nation left in shock, many described this as very unfortunate and a disgrace to a great footballing nation like Ghana.
Many has taken to Twitter to take a dig at the Football Association for how terribly the national teams(Black Starlets,Black Satelites,Black Queens and the Black Stars) have fared in recent months.
Black Stars legend and former captain Asamoah Gyan took to Twitter to pour his heart out for how woefully the Black Meteors have performed in the tournament.
“What I saw in this Black Meteors team is some players think they are bigger than the whole team. Small hype and fame? SHM,” the Ghana all-time top scorer wrote on Twitter.
“Modern football is not about only what you do with the ball. It’s about what you do without the ball. I see players thinking the can play alone. It’s about time we wake up and defend when we lose the ball. SMH.”

The elimination means the Black Meteors would have to wait until another four years to hope for another Olympic games dream.
The last time Ghana participated in the Olympic games was in 2004 in Athens, Greece and they've failed to show up since.
