Head coach of the Black Princesses, Yusif Basigi says preparations are going on well ahead of the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Girls Cup to be held in Kumasi, Ghana from May 20 to Sunday, June 04, 2023.
Speaking to the GFA media, Basigi bemoans that they have inadequate time for preparations but they will however pull the plugs to give their best during the championship.
"There are a lot of works to be done because we don't have majority of the squad that played at the last U20 Women FIFA World Cup in Costa Rica and we had to bring in new crop of players from the Black Maidens".
"We have limited time and fortunately for us, we have some good household names around and some great potentials from the Black Maidens as well so we will blend than to build a formidable side.
We need to do all we can to live up to expectations and impress Ghanaians", he added.
Speaking on expectations of opponents ahead of the tournament, coach Basigi said; "every country is doing well in football now and we need not to underrate or underestimate any side, in as much as we have the talents, there is more to that".
"We have to think of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup itself and we need to put our structures in a way to aid us qualify after which we look at what we can do to go past the group stages."
Yusif Basigi was re-appointed as the head coach of the Black Princesses in December 2022.
